In the opening episode of Pale Carnations, a dark-themed visual novel from Mutt & Jeff, we become Edwin Turner, a blank slate of a struggling med school student who is unexpectedly offered, through the mediation... of his rich and mischievous student friend Ian Killian, a part-time job at a strange establishment called The Carnation Club, apparently financed by Ian's uncle and catering to wealthy businessmen. When Edwin learns about the true nature of the club - a gentleman's club, if you know what I mean - he at first refuses to take the opportunity, but Ian's uncle perseveres, even hinting at the possibility of paying his way through Edwin's school if he agrees to work for the establishment...
